Roddie Report: Sick Day

Monday started bright and early as Roddie came in to cuddle (with Matt this day!) and proceeded to puke.  The scene repeated itself once more before 8:30 and it was clear that Rod and I would be staying home this day.  So after we dropped Norah off at school and returned some library books we went home to start our day.  Rod was a little low energy and cuddly to start but before long was his usual self.  As always, I was trying to think of some projects to work on that did not involve a screen of some kind.  Thankfully, I bought valentines on the last possible weekend day and we hadn't yet put our mark on them.  Also thankfully, Roddie is able to write his own name :)

Kendall's Valentine, he HAD to do himself, because "I love her"

After a while, we both took a break for a couple of rounds of CandyLand.  I don't know how someone can so reliably kick butt at this game, but he does (and no, I don't stack the deck) As you can see, he really hates to win!

Norah News: A Look into the Future

Today was apparently the 100th day of school. I can't believe Norah has been in school for 100 days already... my how time flies! One of the projects they did today, just before she turns 6, was to draw pictures of what they might look like at their 100th year reunion. As you can see, Norah expects to be just as fancy then as she is now!

Family Fun: Selfies

Another one of Norah's snow day projects required a couple of pictures.  So we went with Boy/Girl Family selfies... I think they were cool so here they are

Family Fun: My snow angels

There has been lots of snow this winter, but also a lot of extreme cold.  So, while we love the outdoors we haven't had all THAT many opportunities to play outside.  So, when Matt called me on the way home from work the other night and suggested we make use of the floodlights in the backyard to play outside, I only hesitated for a minute (are you crazy???) before responding with , "I'm In"    I think the kids thought we were joking, but we had a good time out there in the cold and dark.

Norah News: Snow Day Party Prep

No one loves a birthday party, especially her own, as much as Norah.  We're having a modest affair this year, at the house.  I logged on to my new favorite party web site and ordered up crafts and decorations for a dozen kids and now all that remains is to whip up some cupcakes (that they will decorate themselves) and snacks.
No one loves outsourcing menial work for their kids to their kids more than this mom - so I set Norah up with all the stuff for the treat bags and set her to work.  She did a great job and I got a good hour of work done on my cost model - win-win!
