Norah News: Fashionista!

In order to streamline our morning routine a little, I've started working with Norah to pick out her outfit the night before.  I didn't think we really had time in our evening routine, but we don't have time for the inevitable hassle in our morning routine either - especially on days when I might have an early meeting!  It seems to be working out well so far, and it's actually kind of fun picking out her outfits with her.  As you may know, Norah definitely has her own sense of style (part princess, part Cyndi Lauper and no jeans, under any circumstances - only soft pants) and I largely let her run with it.  Here is a direct quote from her last night that pretty much sums it up:
"This is a great outfit Mom...flower pants, a purple shiney skirt, a fishey short sleeve shirt and polka dotty long sleeves. Oh, and doggie socks and shiney church shoes"
Love you Norah, don't ever lose sight of who you are!

Norah News: Fancy Nancy meets Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

As you may recall, when Norah was a baby, she loved when Matt sang her a Fishin' Song.   Much like "Put a Penny" that my Dad sang to me, it was a sure-fire way to get her smiling.  It was with this in mind that we hatched a plan for Matt to take Norah out for the first fishing outing of the season - the local sportsmans club annual kids derby!  In each of the previous years the weather didn't co-operate and Norah was just too young to take out in the cold and rain - but this year the forecast was good and everyone was pumped to get out there!  The plan was for Matt and Norah to head over for start time, around 8am, and Roddie and I would join them an hour or so later when it warmed up a little.

As you can see below, Norah was decked out and as fancy as ever and ready to catch her some fish!

Unfortunately the weather was against us again!  More specifically, the time of day and year.  Even though the day turned out to be beautiful and warm, at 8am it was just too cold for a 3 year old in fancy rainboots.  Rod and I never made it, but we did all have a great day outside nonetheless, and will try again next year.

Norah News: Fancy Norah

Have you met  Fancy Nancy?  She is one of our new favorites!  Norah got a book for her birthday and we liked it so much I got her another one last weekend.  Nancy is a bit like Norah, with an active imagination and a love of all things fancy like skirts, and beads and tiaras!  She also likes to use big fancy words.  Norah likes Nancy for obvious reasons, and I like her because the stories are age appropriate, encourage her imagination and as a bonus teaches her new words!

Anyway our own fancy one has been getting dressed all by herself all week.  She's even been picking out her own clothes and is doing a pretty good, if slightly fancy, job of it.  Here she is one day this week on the way to school in the morning.
Dress up time can get even MORE fancy!  Note the gloves and shoes
One thing she has not been fancy about lately is her hair.. unlike when she was younger, nowadays she will rarely let me put any 'hair pretties' in her hair - which is too bad, because when she does it's adorable (that's a fancy word for really cute)
